The Kusserpool as exclusive retreat
Family K. leads us through their new house into the garden, where they have created a unique oasis of peace for themselves by means of a Kusserpool.
The use of exquisite granite as construction material is the main theme throughout the architecture of the entire property. At the same time, natural stone contributes to the exclusivity, elegance and homeliness. Clearly, the absolute centrepiece is the outdoor area where the pool, terrace and garden form a subtly balanced unity.
The water lies absolutely calm in a 1.4 m deep granite pool. It appears as a giant mirror, which particularly highlights the architecture of the adjacent residence. The water is constantly cleared from floating debris by the continuous overflow of the water over the edge of the pool.
All technical finesse has been integrated in the granite construction. The roller shutters disappear under the water surface in a granite bench when not in use. The filigree wall thickness forms a puristic frame for the cool blue. A staircase of the same natural material leads over a sitting level into the pool and fits harmoniously into the overall picture.
At night, the atmospheric light from the residence, combined with the pool illumination, provide a perfect ambience. Pool spotlights have also been integrated in the solid granite.
It was important for us not only to create a recreational area, but we wanted a harmonious interplay between water, garden, the outdoor and living area.
